Fuel Testing & Tank Cleaning


This problem was unearthed when one of our customers was having severe problems on a few of his sites with pump filters “clogging up”. He had needed several visits in a matter of months to clear his filters. We were asked to go to the sites to sample and test the fuel in all of his tanks.

On the first visit, all the fuel was sampled using the standard top - middle- bottom sampling system, they were brought back to our onsite laboratory for analysis but the results were very confusing, we knew that there was a problem with the tanks but the result’s did not justify the extent of the problem, as they were showing a negative reading.

At no additional cost to the customer, we returned to the sites after devising an alternative method of retrieving the samples, which gave us an accurate indication of what was happening in the tanks, the variation in the results were absolutely staggering.

Results are based on the volumes of Adenosine Triphosphate found in a typical cell expressed as cATP, measured in Pico gram per millilitre.

Lid Removal and Tank Cleaning

On instruction to carry out the cleaning and remediation of the fuel on all of the customers sites we assessed the level of contamination and our findings are detailed below:

Please note: Our illustrations show a variance of tanks on different sites but owned by the same Customer.

Once the lids were removed, it was apparent as the illustrations show that there was indeed a problem in those tanks.

The following illustrations show the level of Microbial Activity and sludge that were removed by our Specialist, Highly Trained Tank Entry Personnel.

 

Decontamination removed and the tanks are now fit for re-use.


Notice the damage that can be caused by microbial activity and sludge's in tanks. On completion of cleaning the tanks are also visually inspected for signs of damage and wear and tear, if a problem is identified within the tank, it would be immediately reported to the site operator. Finally, lids replaced and tested. Fuel conditioners were fitted to the ACV's to eliminate the risk of re- contamination of fuel reaching the pumps and most importantly Company Vehicles or Customers Expensive Cars.

No fuel was harmed in this service carried out by the L.I.S Group. Before the process it was uplifted and stored on our Multi- Pot purpose built Petroleum Regulated Vehicle, until the time where is was decontaminated via our Fuel Remediation System, back into the freshly cleaned Microbial free tank. All contaminated sludge and tank washings were transported back to our recycling facility and treated accordingly under Environmental Permit No: EP3835PU.
